Parkerized metal finish overall mounting a walnut semi pistol grip stock with full length upper handguard mounting T105 pattern rear aperture and front blade sights with protectors. Long stroke piston driven rotating bolt semi-automatic rifle fed by an internal magazine charged with stripper clips. Receiver is marked U.S. RIFLE/CAL. .30M1/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY. Serial number corresponds to a late production M1 Garand circa 1955. Stock displays a circle P mark on the grip, and a {Defense Acceptance Stamp} to the left wrist. Trigger housing marked 6528290-SA and the hammer SA D5546008. Barrel marks include SA F6535448 followed by date mark 2 55 and A217B. There is a {Defense Acceptance Stamp} to the right barrel, along with three P stamps with a punch dot in the loop of the P, correct for National Match rifles. Right receiver is marked F6528291. Bolt is marked 6528287-SA/A14. Radius cut operating rod is further marked 6535382 SA, the appropriate mark for a late M1 Garand rifle. Left barrel is marked NM for National match, the only such mark that appears on this rifle. It mounts standard T105 sights with the original pattern apertures, correct for a National Match Type 2. Item comes with letter from the Civilian Marksmanship Program attesting that it as sold on November 3, 1955 and marked as a National Match rifle. {C&R}
